19 of the Russian's twenty-one victories have been won on hard surfaces

A comeback Medvedev secured his first championship for over two years with a win over Frenchman Moutet in the Almaty Open title decider.

The Russian, a ex- number one, has endured a difficult period, managing just one match at the big events and experiencing a setback at the New York tournament.

His varied form on the ATP Tour - and struggles with his serve in particular - caused him falling of the elite rankings and finally splitting with long-term mentor Cervara.

Presently collaborating with Johansson and Goetzke, Medvedev has gradually improved in the last few weeks - culminating in a hard-fought 7-5 4-6 6-3 victory over challenger Moutet.

It is his first championship after the 2023 Rome Masters and first on a hard surface after that period of that year.

Success also indicates the Russian has secured 21 titles at 21 various events.

"This marks the first occasion I'm at a tournament with my two daughters together, so to win a title is particularly special," said tennis professional Medvedev.

"This championship is in tribute of my younger daughter my daughter, because the first title I won when my older daughter her name was born was for her."

Medvedev, the past champion, had been defeated in his past six finals, comprising in Halle previously this season.

The player's defensive strategy and recurring emotional displays on the playing surface had caused some to doubt if his capacity to compete at the highest level was finished.

Yet the athlete has implemented adjustments in recent weeks, striving to advance forward and perform assertively, reinforced by an improved service.

Medvedev came back from a disadvantage in the initial set against the challenging Moutet, securing 4 of the concluding five games to go ahead.

The pair traded break points in the middle set before Moutet, attempting for his maiden tour title, took control to force a decider.

The opponent defended four initial chances in a competitive third set before the Russian secured a break to fifteen to serve for the match.

Appropriately, he earned the win with a point at the front of the court, with the Frenchman incapable to handle a shot after two hours and 38 minutes.
